Situated approx. 100km south of Patna, Gaya is one of the most important pilgrimage places for the Hindu pilgrims. Vishnu is said to have given Gaya the power to absolve sinners. Pilgrims perform prayers in the holy places around Gaya, to free their ancestors from bondage to the earth.

PLACES TO VISIT :

Vishnupad Temple - This temple was constructed in 1787 by Queen Ahilya Bai of Indore on the banks of river Falgu. Inside the temple, 40cm footprint of Vishnu is imprinted in solid rock and surrounded by a silver-plated basin.

Brahmajuni Hill - A flight of 1000 stone steps leads to the top of this hill, one km southwest of the Vishnupad Temple. There is a good view over the town from the top
