Restaurant

Since Himachal Pradesh is located on a hilly terrain, the availability of vegetables and other food items is a challenge. Thus, food is kept simple and easy to cook with generous amount of 'Ghee' added to it to make it tastier. Lots of spices such as cardamom, cinnamon, cloves and red chilies are used for cooking food. The normal spread for lunch and dinner is made up of traditional North Indian cuisine that includes rice, lentil broth, dish of vegetables and unleavened bread. The restaurants in Himachal Pradesh also provide lip smacking delicacies to visitors. As long as you are here, you won't have to think about what to eat in Himachal Pradesh.

Attractions
Dal lake
Dal lake of Kashmir is one of the most beautiful and picturesque lakes in India. It has been and continues to be a part of the poetry by some renowned poets. The second largest lake of Jammu and Kashmir state, Dal Lake is encircled by magnificent mountains on three sides. Adorning the banks of the Dal Lake is a number of blooming gardens and orchards. Five basins and a number of channels well linked with each other are some of the features of the lake. Dal Lake is approximately 6 km by 3 km in size and changes its moods and scenery after every few kilometers.

Dhauladaar
The crest of Dhauladhar is covered by a vast expanse of snow and perhaps this mountain range is the near snow line 'area in the whole of Himalayas which is easily accessible from the plains. The Dhaulaldhar has rich fauna & flora and also features of geological interest. All the way from Dalhousie to the Bara Bhangal ridge, the Dhauladhar has more than 30 passes at an average height of 3500 metres to above 5000 metres, which afford an easy entrance to the Ravi valley and to the central Himalayas. This mighty range has vast trekking, mountaineering and skiing potential and is known for its unspoiled, unexplored, unfrequented and improvised treks. Some of the peaks in this region have been identified and scaled by Britons since 1924.

St. John's Church
One of the most poignant memories of the British Raj is the church of St. John, situated in the wilderness. This charmingly dressed stone church is located just 1-km from Mcleodgunj. Under the shade of Deodar branches, a memorial has been made over the body of the British Viceroy, Lord Elgin who died at Dharamshala in 1863.

Triund
Mcleodganj to Triund is a 9 km gradual trek which passes through the Dharmkot and Rakkar villages. The tracks from Rawa, Dallake, Dharamkot and Bhagsu meet at a ridge known as Galu Devi (2130m) which has a small temple and a water point. The track then gradually gains height and winds round the ridges looking towards Dharamsala and the Kangra valley. The last climb after a snow nullah rises abruptly with steep ascents and the track weaves through twenty two curves making the ascent tiring and difficult. There is a small forest bungalow at Triund located on a big and green subsidiary ridge of the Dhauladhar range. The forest bungalow was built some years ago.

Paragliding
Paragliding that is a relatively new aero-sport for many in the country, is steadily popularizing especially in Himachal Pradesh, where it has emerged as a major charm for tourists who wish to enjoy it as they visit the scenic State.

Thousands of people from different parts of India and abroad have found Himachal, as their ultimate destination to cherish this adventurous and nerve-wracking sport.

International Cricket Stadium
International Cricket Council (ICC) has rejected the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association's (HPCA) proposal to organise an international match in Dharamshala Cricket stadium.
HPCA president Anurag Thakur, while briefing mediapersons here today, said that ICC observers' report has rejected the HPCA demands because the is lack of facilities like internet, hotel and proper roads in Dharamshala.
''Considering this report HPCA has sanctioned Rs 5 crore to install such facilities as soon as possible. The work is on and the state board will once again ask ICC to follow the plea,'' he said.
