Red Fort
This magnificent structure dates back to the peak of Mughal power. When the emperor rode out on elephant back, into the streets of Old Delhi, it was a spectacular display of pomp and power. Aurangzeb was the first and the last great Mughal Emperor to rule from here. There's also a Sound and Light show each evening that recreates events of India 's history.
Qutab Minar
After capturing Delhi in 1193, Qutab-ud-Din Aibak laid the foundation of what was to become the highest stone tower in India . Intended mainly as a tower of victory, it was also used by the muezzin to call the faithful to pray. The tapering Qutab Minar, faced with red buff sandstone, is 72.5 metres tall and has 5 storeys. Each clearly defined with ornamental bands of Koranic Inscriptions. The Devangari inscriptions of it mention that the tower was damaged in 1326 and repaired by Muhammad-bin-Tughlak, and again in 1368, when Firoz Shah replaced the upper storey with two level making liberal use of marble.
