The
Peepal Kothi is a unique Farm Homestay complex nestled in the
picturesque valley of the Aravally Hills, a short distance from
Gurgaon and Delhi. This three-acre complex consists of a three-bedroomed
“Kothi”, which reminds you of the 1930’s architecture of Punjab.
The “Kothi” is modeled on the flat roofed, high-ceilinged design,
with signature wrap-around verandahs. Three independent bungalows,
the Dak Bungalow, The Port House, and The Mulberry Cottage are
reminiscent of the Raj era tea garden bungalows. The Orangery,
which serves as the dining and the recreational area, draws
its inspiration from the English conservatories, with vaulted
ceilings and glazed windows on all four sides.
The
inspiration behind The Peepal Kothi is Vijay Chowdhry, a career
marketing man and a keen golfer who helped create the two iconic
golf courses in the vicinity, The Classic Golf Resort and The
Tarudhan Valley Golf Resort.
Accommodation
“The
Peepal Kothi has a cluster of three independent cottages; The
Port House, The Dak Bungalow and The Mulberry Cottage. These
cottages with wrap around verandas are inspired by the colonial
bungalows that were found in tea gardens and hill stations.
All cottages have their own distinctive features, artifacts
and artwork which evoke the essence of the era they represent.
With large glazed windows, they offer panoramic views of the
gardens around them."
“The
Peepal Kothi has three large rooms with a deep wrap around veranda
and a large terrace. The Kothi rooms are inspired by the flat
roof kothis of the early 20th century Punjab with flat stone
roofs topped by mud phuska, which keeps the temperature in the
rooms cool in summers and warm in winters. The kothi consists
of a suite, The Malabar and two large rooms, The Patiala and
The Avadh. Each suite has period furniture, artifacts and prints
from the owner's collection and are in tune with regions they
represent."
Food
We
at Peepal Kothi follow the tenets of The Slow Food movement
and also ascribe to the Locavore principles of sourcing food
from the neighbourhood, so as to have almost negligible carbon
footprint. We provide unpretentious and wholesome food to our
guests, both vegetarian and non-vegetarian, by using traditional
cooking methods, like wood and coal fire. We are also reviving
local food practices which contain the richness of local coarse
grains like Bajra, Jowar and corn.
Despite
adhering to our beliefs of slow food and traditional cooking
methods, we try to strike a balance between our beliefs and
what guests want when they come out to Peepal Kothi to relax
and be pampered. As all meals are included in our tariff, we
have put together an eclectic menu so that our guests can chose
their preferred meals..
