Neeralaya Cottage
Kullu, Himachal Pradesh.
We don’t just say it here in the Kullu Valley, we totally mean it from deep within our hearts. A simple but an honest way to warmly welcome all our guests to Neeralaya!

As you will step onto our grounds, we assure you that you will be transported to a different world all together, a world sitting in the lap of nature, surrounded by mountains, forests, orchards and private gardens. The air so fresh as it skims across the ever rushing river ‘Beas’ that flows past our villas, it makes you feel younger by a decade! Add to that the symphony of the birds and you will never want to leave.

At Neeralaya, you are not just a guest of the resort, but a visitor to our beautiful valley. A vale that is truly bestowed with nature’s bountiful treasures and its lovely people. We take immense pride and care in ensuring that you all will experience that for your selves and not only go back home as our friends, but really more so of the Valley.

We look forward to welcoming you to a Neeralaya Experience!

There isn’t a sport that can be more peaceful and exciting at the same time as fishing, especially when it comes to fishing for brown trout. One can cast away in the ‘Beas’ literally ten steps away from your own villa. We also organize day long fishing excursions to the ‘Tirthan’ valley famed for the same prized catch. Mountain Biking

Just break free the shackles and test your endurance levels biking in the pristine air on some of our most scenic trails. You will be surprised how much one can get done on one’s own steam when you have the right gear! Longer trips along with picnic lunches can also be organised.

Trekking & Hiking
There are numerous trails that you can choose from with an accompanied guide to be with the mountains and its treasures. Treks & hikes cover varied sites of interest and are of different degrees of difficulty to choose from.

To name a few;

Bijli Mahadev Trek; Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva on top of the ridge over-looking both the ‘Parvati’ and Kulu valleys. The lightening strikes and shatters the ‘Lingam’ housed inside the temple every time we mortals need a message from above! The views from the top make-up for all the sweat.
Grade – Strenuous (full day trip).

Activities
Apple Orchard ; This is a great way to see life in a western himalayan village with a bonus of visiting a thriving apple orchard. A wonderful way to appreciate your doctors’ advise of “an apple a day…!” During the harvest season (Aug-Sep) you can pick your own basket of apples. Grade – Moderate (full day trip)

Nashala Village; An easy hike along the old forest road that takes one past terraced fields, pine forests and gurgling brooks to the wonderful village of Nashala. The hike also allows a great opportunity for bird watchers to add some new names to the list.
Grade – Easy (half day trip)

Sightseeing

Rohtang Pass (13,050ft);A very early start (6am) to set off north to travel on one of the highest motor able roads in the world to Rohtang Pass. This Pass featured heavily in the early exploration of the Western Himalaya. From the pass one looks at two different worlds; one to the south – lush green and inviting, the other to the North, cold and bleak, a mauve and ochure world of boulders and shale, rising to a series of icy peaks marching away as far as the eye can see.

Manali; A tour of the sites of Manali that include a visit to the over 400 years old ‘Hadimba’ temple built in the characteristic pagoda-style hill architecture set amidst equally ancient pine forest. The tour also includes a visit to the old Manali village, observing life in a western Himalayan village and its wonderful people. Lunch will be arranged in a local restaurant. After lunch we are free to explore the markets of Manali or return to our riverside villas for a restful evening.

Nagar Castle & Roerich Art Gallery; A short drive to Naggar, the former capital of the Kulu Kingdom. In addition to visiting the 450 year old Naggar castle, stroll around the village visiting a handful of stone and wood carved temples are dating back to the 15th century. Also worth visiting in Naggar is the Roerich Art gallery & its folk museum (closed on Mondays).
