The Bandipur National Park of Karnataka is a beautiful forest reserve of southern India. This was established with the aim of conserving the nature and its resource. In 1930, the present Bandipur National Park was Maharaja Wodiyar’s hunting land which was converted into Venugopal Wildlife Park. Later in the year 1941, the park was expanded to the nearby Nagarahole National Park and named as the Bandipur National Park. Now this National Park of Karnataka is a part of the vast Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve which is considered as the extensive tracts of protected forest in India. In the year 1973, this was declared as the Tiger Reserve of India. Now it is the best managed Tiger Reserve of India. The rivers Kabini, Nugu and Moyar pass through this National Park.

Bandipur National Park is one of the India’s best known Sanctuaries, and is an important Project Tiger reserve. It is located in the Chamarajanagar district of Southern Karnataka in South India, and is contiguous with the Mudumalai National Park in the neighbouring state of Tamil Nadu, the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary in Kerala, and the Nagarahole National Park to the northwest. It is home to around seventy Tigers and over three thousand Asian Elephants, along with Leopards, Dholes, Gaur and Sloth Bears.
Himavad Gopalaswamy Betta, (hill – Betta) located in Chamarajanagar district of Karnataka state at a height of 1454 mts and it is extensively wooded. It is also the highest peak in the Bandipur National Park Resorts, and is only 15 kms from our resort.
Mudumalai is one of the reserves that form the lost wild frontier of the region’s fascinating wildlife herbivores such as Deer, Gaur and Elephant, and it is approximately 16 kms from our resort.
The forest has a rich collection of rosewood and teak. The Bandipur National Park is the home of Asiatic Elephant. As it lies on the highway between Mysore and Ooty the park is only 2 hours drive from Mysore.
