The Tea Lounge Located in the Viceregal Palace , the Maharaja's Tea Lounge is a warm, romantic setting for an afternoon cup of tea and light snacks, taking you back to the by-gone days of the British Raj and royalty. The lounge walls are adorned with the portraits of the erstwhile Maharaja and the other political dignitaries who visited Narendra Nagar during the reign of the Maharaja. Of particular interest and mention are the signatures and pictures of Lord Mountbatten, the last Viceroy of India. While the lounge quietly tells a story of the days of yore, relax on the lounge sofas or admire the rich, brocaded tapestry, dating back to the royal times. Enjoy spectacular sunsets or appreciate the beauty of the well-manicured gardens. Savour the cup of tea at the royal card tables, which have been retained from the time of the Maharaja. Exquisitely crafted to perfection, these card tables have the enclosures made of glass. The tapestry and the curtains exude the warm and inviting hues of yellow and blue, both traditional colours of Indian royalty.
Whether it is the cup of tea on your mind or merely historic curiosity, the Tea Lounge is your awaited answer. Indulge.... |

Adventure
Rishikesh is one of the best-located pilgrimage centres along the Right Bank of the river Ganga . The holy river emerging from the high mountains not far from here runs deep and silent through the thickly wooded hills that straddle this region. A breathtaking experience of natural beauty and undiscovered wildlife await here. Not to mention peace and tranquility of a landscape associated with 'rishis' and 'munis' (the learned holy men) and meditation.
According to legend, sage Raibhya Rishi, undertook staunch penance at Rishikesh to please God. In answer to his meditation, gods appeared here, manifested as 'Rishikesh' and the place thus came to be called after him. Today, Rishikesh has become a centre for learning and research in yoga and meditation, the renowned Indian methods for mental and physical health.
Rajaji National Park was formed by consolidating three sanctuaries namely Chilla, Motichur and Rajaji and covers an area of 820 sq. km. The area lies towards the east of the Dehradun - Roorkee highway.
There are approximately 21 tigers in this extensive area and a bigger population of leopard in the upper regions of the park. It is generally easier to sight the elusive leopard in certain areas like Chilla. Tigers are difficult to spot on account of the dense cover, which lies in the core areas of the Park, which are not open to tourists. |

Fishing Programmes On The Ganges
About The Fish & The Species : The fish-the Mahseer- found only in the Indian sub-continent is reputed as being the strongest fresh water sport fish in the world. It has been compared most favorably with Salmon fishing.
The Species : The Mahseer is also the world's largest member of the carp family. The Himalayan Mahseer (Barbus tor pututora), the ones found on the rivers we raft can be as big as a 100lbs and 5ft long, though uncommon. Typically 40lbs is a record catch. The Himalayan variety are leaner and meaner than their southern cousins (though on average the southerners are bigger) and put up a stronger fight perhaps owing to the more powerful currents of the Himalayan rivers. A migratory fish, the Mahseer travel upriver up to 2000mtrs also to spawn in the smaller tributaries, twice in the year. It is on the return from the breeding grounds when the fish are ravenous taking to your lures immediately and when the big ones are landed. |
