Most of the national parks that come under the Project Tiger have a core area where human activity is not allowed and left undisturbed and a buffer zone that offers ample opportunities for wildlife safaris. Corbett Tree House is a resort located in one such zone known as the JHIRNA zone on the southern periphery of the wildlife sanctuary in a village called DHELA - Located in Reserve Forest.(The only zone open throughout the year which provides you jungle explorations and safari's into the deep jungles). The location of the resort not just suits wildlife lovers and to add up ANGELING at KOSI is not a fact to hide.
Jim Corbett
The Project Tiger which was established with an initiative of the Government of India under the leadership of the then Prime Minister Late Mrs. Indira Gandhi in the year 1972.The first national park that was declared in 1973 in Uttrakhand as a part of the Project Tiger was the JIM CORBETT NATIONAL PARK named in honor of the legendary hunter turned conversationalist, author and photographer, Lt Col Jim Corbett who spent most his life in the area and helped in setting up the park. The idea was to save the alarmingly dwindling population of Panthera tigris or the tiger by establishing special reserves that offer a large enough natural habitat for the tiger and other wild life animals. The main objectives of the ambitious project tiger were to create and maintain natural habitats that can effectively help to rehabilitate and conserve wildlife in India and to maintain a viable tiger population for scientific, ecological aesthetic and cultural values. And the JIM COBBETT NATIONAL PARK under this initiative has shown a remarkable increase in the dwindling population of the wild cats(latest stats reveal 148 Tiger's inhabiting the jungle spread in over 550 sq.km approx). Not just Tiger's the CORBETT has a remarkable population of other endangered species such as ELEPHANT'S , BEAR , GHARIYAL , WILD BORE , DIFFERENT VARITIES OF DEER'S AND MUCH MUCH MORE… |

In order to enjoy your stay at Corbett Tree House, it is important that you pack and plan accordingly. There are three distinct seasons: Cold (November to February), Hot (March to mid-June) and Rainy (mid-June to October), and each demands different clothing.
If visiting in the Cold season it is important that you pack woolens, and have one wind breaker. Mornings and evenings, especially during game drives and elephant rides can be very cold. In the Hot season, loose cotton clothes are advisable, while on nature walks wear long trousers so that the thorny undergrowth does not scratch you. Sensible walking shoes are the order of the day in all seasons. If visiting the retreat in the rainy season, a proper raincoat is far more useful than an umbrella. Always pack a spare pair of shoes to plan for unexpected rain. It is always advisable to carry a reliable flashlight/torch with you. In case you have a particular medical condition it is essential that you pack your medicines. Ramnagar does have chemist shops but specialist medicines are not always available. Mosquito repellant is a must, especially in the rainy season. Remember you're in the jungle, so scorpions and snakes could be visitors at the resort. The staff are trained to remove any unwanted visitors, but please be vigilant at all times, check clothes before wearing them and do not walk barefoot. And don't forget to pack you camera! |
