Jungle
Lore Birding lodge is a set of four lovely cottages set in a
village amidst oak trees. The view of the snow clad mountains
is from the village, not from the lodge. Two of the cottages
of the lodge- Upper and small cottage are close to the parking
as well as the dining area. New and Jungle cottage are a little
furthur down from small cottage, with a climb of about 8-10 stairs. For
elderly guests we would be happy to have them taken on a chair
to their room and also make arrangements for food to be served
there. This however is in cases where the guest has difficulty
climbing/walking. All meals will be otherwise served in the
Common dining area. It's a good way to meet other fellow travellers,
strike a conversation and share interesting stories. - This
picturesque place is ideal for nature lovers, Bird watchers
and for people who just want to relax, unwind and have a laid
back holiday.
The
cottage due to its location, at times may face power cuts which
are unavoidable.Being part of the Himalayan cover and passionate
about maintaining its beauty, we avoid the use of generators
to omit any input of carbondioxide by us.The cottage however
is well equipped with an invertor, torches and candles for emergencies.
The
cottages do not have Televisions and we are certain you wont
be missing much as mother nature will leave you spellbound with
her myriad colours.Nature walks, village walk, hiking, rock
climbing, rapling, river crossing, flying fox, are a few of
the activities that you can opt for here.
During
winters, gas heaters and hot water bottles are readily provided
in your room to keep you warm.
Water
being a valuable resource and even more precious at a location
such as this, we try and minimise wastage as much as possible. If
your bath towels need to be washed everyday, we request you
to leave them in the basket or floor in the washroom, otherwise
we will have them changed as per schedule. This really helps
us to save water.
There
is a well stocked library for all age groups to catch up on
some reading in such a perfect setting.
Winter

get cold. Great season for bird watching and mountain views.

Activities |
There
are many walking trails through the surrounding jungle.
You can choose your own trail. One of the popular walks
is from the Kilbury forest rest house to Pangot or to China
Peak, a 4-hour bird walk.
You
can go through the forest or along the main road, which
rarely sees vehicles pass by. The oak, pine, bamboo, cedar,
rhododendron and other conifers make the walk delightfully
beautiful and refreshing. The undergrowth is as fascinating
with varieties of fern and moss breaking through the rich
soil.
The
forest gets thicker as you walk further. The trickle of
fresh water streams enriches the habitat. Look for forktails.
You can often spy wildlife around the streams. A host of
birdlife inhabits this world. An absolute dream for a birdwatcher,
this walk is a must.
