Kumarakom
is in the heart of Kuttanad, a ‘Wonder Land’, lying below sea
level, comprising of a number of islands, in the backwaters.
The beautiful river Pennar winds it’s way through the Kumarakom
countryside before it ends up in the lake.. Amidst these scenic
locales ……. near the confluence of the serene Vembanad lake
and the beautiful Pennar river is the MANOR BACKWATER RESORT.
Only a kilometer away from the Kumarakom bird sanctuary, many
migratory birds are constant and welcome visitors at the resort.

AIR Nedumbassery near Kochi is the closest airport – having
both domestic & international terminals. The drive of 76 kilometers
from the airport takes 1.5 hours by car.
BY
TRAIN The closest is the KOTTAYAM railway station just 12 kms
away. Kottayam is well connected to major Indian cities by rail.
The drive by car takes about 30 minutes from the station.Kumarakom
is also accessible from the Kochi Railway stations, 1.5 hours
away by car

ROAD The Cheepungal bridge near the Kumarakom boat jetty lies
en route from Kochi to Kottayam on the National highway. From
the Kottayam direction the village road is a 100 meters before
the bridge to the right. From the Kochi direction it is a 100
meters after the toll bridge to the left. After turning into
the village road, drive 100 meters straight on to find the Manor
Backwater Resort on the left.

WATER The Manor Backwater Resort is accessible by water from
Kochi, Kottayam and Alappuzha. It is possible to arrive right
at the doorstep of the resort by boat! And it is more fun to
do so. Speed boat ferries are available and faster than the
cruise boats, but commuting by the latter is immensely more

Just
15 minutes drive from Munnar Bus station to the resort through
immaculately manicured tea gardens and a stream leading to resort
is mind refreshing. Pulimuttil Estate is a plantation of varieties
of spices like Cardamom, Pepper, Clove, Nutmeg, Ginger, Cinnamon
and many more.
Accommodation
Sprawling
on 4 acres of land, the Manor has 40 large suites with attached
dressing and bath rooms. Our rooms imbibe the local aesthetic
with elements such as traditionally designed furniture, yet
keeping the bathrooms smart, bright and contemporary chic! A
unique feature at The Manor Backwater resort is the soothing
view of the water from each and every room, right from your
very bed.The resort is built as separate cottage blocks with
connecting bridges, each block has an atrium of indoor garden
on either side of the passages. The view differs from ground
to first floor, from one end to the other and from one direction
to the other.
You
are welcome to stroll, viewing, stopping at the bridges connecting
the blocks and take in the breeze as well as different panoramic
views.The rooms are snug with a wonderful view of the sun greeting
you each morning in the eastern rooms and the last rays of the
sunset visible from romantic western rooms.Every room has its
own large individual balcony built with traditional kerala ‘Valavukkal’,
Burmese teakwood ‘Charupadi’ and terracotta tiles …. Transporting
you to another world where overlooking the water you can feel
your troubles slowly fade away. It’s just the place to enjoy
the view, a soft caressing breeze, enjoy a drink or a snack
–all in your own secluded privacy, watching the sunrise or sunset,
or even the moon come up with the stars in tow. Nothing but
an occasional boat with smiling shy faces or a long whale of
colorful ducks interrupt - briefly -almost immediately moving
out of sight leaving you wondering if you were day dreaming.
The
river is gentle and moves so softly that it looks as if not
at all .The still lake like waters have not a ripple, as even
the breeze seems to move deferentially, careful not to ruffle
the glossy hair of the comely maiden with clumps of pink lotuses
for ornaments . The breeze that wafts across green paddy fields
flooded with water and then crosses. the river is cool and caresses
gently….

Multi-Cuisine Restaurant is the confluence of traditional and
international cuisine blending the local produce in a variety
of dishes. Our kitchen creates new menus everyday combining
international tastes refined to culinary perfection. The restaurant
is a wonderful meeting place for all our guests from all over
the world to share their experiences creating warm friendships.A
picturesque room awaits you here with an astonishing view. We
have striven to give you views that you came for from afar,
everywhere. The restaurant has the longest vista of the lotus
laden river with soft fluorescent blades of paddy grass creating
wide borders of swaying green carpets while tall coconut palms
sway to the breeze on the other side.During your stay you will
be treated to lavish lunches and dinners expertly prepared by
our Chef, every morning a scrumptious buffet breakfast in the
waterfront restaurant complete with magnificent river views.For
the nature lover, the restaurant also offers outdoor seating
on the banks of the river so you can experience the real Kerala

Conference/Banqueting
Hall A large hall, with a seating capacity of 300 persons, theatre
style. We call it Mahaa Vriksham. The conference hall is equipped
with the best technology including projectors and Wi-Fi. It
is the perfect for residential conferences, training seminars
or any other use you may find for it.
Board
rooms Paarijaatham and Thulasi have pleasant views and are meeting
places for 4 to12 persons with all the conferencing facilities.

Swimming
Pool Adjoining the restaurant, amidst the garden, is the turquoise
blue pool with a panoramic view of the river. The Pennar River
never ceases to please the eye, it’s soft curvy path and gentle

landscape artist could create and the distant fields are like
out of a picture while you lay bye the pool to catch some sun
or read the favorite author you’ve been waiting to do for a
