Nellore The city derives its name from
the extensive paddy cultivation in this region. Nellore is
also an important commercial centre and has many temples. Talpagiri
Rangatha Swami temple
Located on the south bank of the River Penneru, the
temple has a 29 metre tall Galigopurem (tower) with seven
gold kalasams. It has a painting of Lord Krishna on the
ceiling of mantapam, which is unique in many aspects. Nellapattu
Sanctuary
This small water bird sanctuary was established in
1976, in the coastal village of Nellapattu, with the village
tank as its focal point. Sangam
This scenic spot derives its name from the confluence
of the Bogguru, Beeraperu and Penneru rivers. The Chola
temple here has a 150 cm tall Nandi, which is artistically
carved. Jonnawada
The Mallikarjuna Kamakshidevi Temple has made this
town an important pilgrim centre. The annual 10-day festival
is celebrated during April-May. Penchalakona
This beautiful scenic spot enjoys a pleasant summer
climate. The famous Penechalakona Temple is situated at the
foot of a hill in the Penechalakona valley. Sriharikota
It is the Indian Space Research Organisation's rocket
