Srikakulam
Srikakulam ,the
northernmost district in the Andhra Pradesh, was a part of Vishakapatnam
District till it was bifurcated in 1950. Srikakulam town, the
headquarters of the district, is located on the east bank of the River
Swarnamukhi.
Arasaville (3.5km) : The
ancient sun -god temple here attracts large number of devotees
from all over the country. This famous is constructed in such a way that
the rays of the sun fall on the deity's feet twice a year.
Baruva (109km) : Baruva,
a fishing and coastal port, is set amidst lush coconut grovesand paddy
fields.
Kaviti : The coastal belt
around Kaviti has extensive plantations of coconut, cashewand jack. The
area is delightfully scenic.
Srikurmam (14.5 km) : A
pilgrim centre, whose vishnu temple is architecturally unique. The
temple has many inscriptions that throw light on the various dynasties
that ruled the region.
Srimukhalingam : The
famous Srimukhalingeswara Temple is believed to have been built in the
9th Century. The temple has some remarkably beautiful sculptures in the
Indo - Aryan style.
