BIHAR RANCHI RANCHI-The summer capital of Bihar and in the heart of the Chotanagpur
Plateau is 676 m in altitude and is a beautiful hill station. There
are water falls around, with lilting names like Hundru, Jonha,
Dasamghagh and Hirni. Other landmarks are a Shiva temple on a hill
top with Ranchi lake at the foot of the hill, and Morabadi hill
and Tagore hill. Ranchi
Museum : On Morabadi Road has an interesting ethnic collection of tribal
artifacts, costumes, implements
and earthenware objects. The climate is pleasant, which may explain the presence of ashrams such
as the extensive and central Yogoda Math Ashram. Around
Ranchi : Macluskieganj(40km) - Originally designed as a haven
for Anglo-Indians, tourists visit this place to savour its vaguely
Victorian ambience, and to enjoy pleasant walks along wooded paths, through
flower gardens and orchards. Hundru Falls (45km) - This is the most picturesque of
the many waterfalls near Ranchi, all at their most dramatic towards
the end of the monsoons. Top
