Referred to as a boutique resort, Laguna Anjuna is an escape into the solitude of Goa. Unique in its concept and design, Laguna Anjuna is a cottage resort cleverly crafted into the existing natural landscape to create a rural ambience with modern comforts. Located some 700 meters from the beach the resort looks out across a wide expanse of paddy fields stretching out to the hills between Anjuna and Baga to the south and the beaches to the west. |

Externally, Laguna Anjuna is very appealing, built in thick laterite stone with pillars and domes. The accommodation consists of a quaint collection of cottage suites, each different in shape and size, well appointed for comfort, convenience and style. Laguna Anjuna may be an oasis of peace and tranquility, but if your tastes veer towards the adventurous, you are in the right place. If you prefer colorful flea markets rather than shops, parties on beaches and cliffs to discotheques, motorbike rides on country trails rather than conducted bus tours, Anjuna has plenty to offer you. We would be happy to show you around! |

Cottage - All the cottages are of different size and shape, and each has its own unique features. Externally the place is appealing, with thick laterite stonework and pillars and dome like vaults. The roof is a fully continuous one of wooden rafters and terracotta tiles, curving and swooping to interconnect the various cottages.

Business news (Goa Today, March 2000) - "The individual villas have been so designed and constructed to maintain the trees, which add to the rural ambience of the place. It's almost like walking into a miniature village as the cottages are connected by a stone pathway. Interestingly all cottages have their own courtyards too, some private and others common, with each villa being of different size and shape. The villas have been constructed in natural stone, while the interiors have relied on locally available materials, traditional workmanship and comfort. Laguna Anjuna is the right place for short break, a weekend outing or an extended stay."

Sucheta Potnis (Asian Age - Mumbai, 3rd August, 2000)- "The rooms are all large and not a singe one is like the other. Low masonry beds curve suddenly into seats or end tables. The ceilings are domed at times or tiled in the traditional country style. The colors are bold and the furniture is mostly minimalistic and elegant. Going through the cottages is like a rewarding treasure hunt - you never know what delight awaits you around the next corner." |

Stylishly designed, the bar promises to keep one in good spirits Sucheta Potnis (Food Bazar)- "The selection is eclectic to say the least, with main emphasis on the Middle Eastern and European food. Business news (Goa Today, March 2000)- "The restaurant offers a select international menu with emphasis on hygiene and taste. The chicken steak with mushroom sauce and the fish Parsi style are worth trying here. Sitting in what used to be a balcao and dining on the delicacies hot from the chef's kitchen, the view is soothing to the eye." |

Refreshingly different distinguishing feature of the resort is the large free form swimming pool skirted by tropical plants and vegetation - including frangipani, banana plants, bamboo, grass and mango trees producing a lagoon like appearance. The water ionization, filtration system is an added advantage requiring minimal use of chlorine and other algaecides, "The swimming pool looks like a real-life lagoon, so you feel like you're swimming with nature not in an artificial rectangular pool with school-strict lanes. It's a free-form pool (Goa's largest) to make sure you leave that Olympic exercising for after this trip. |

Beach Parties - Anjuna is well known for its beach parties. With the full moon the silver sands of Anjuna come alive with bodies swaying to the music while booze flows like water. There are few locals, and those that are around are peddlers selling dope, food and cigarettes - you'll have an amazing time if you like to let your hair down and party. These parties are not for everyone and most of them are hushed up but you sometimes find some curious students from Manipal or Goa who stumble on these clandestine affairs. The cops are on the prowl, hoping to confiscate drugs and arrest peddlers. More often than not, the music comes to an abrupt halt and the lights dim, the crowd drifts apart and the hawkers gather up their wares and scurry away, trying to catch up with the rest of the crowd. |
